Empower The Impact
Domestic Violence Awareness Event
Our Goal
This event aims to raise awareness about the effects of domestic violence and promote a coordinated community response. The program will feature a full day of education focused on trauma and dialogue among community members.
Event Details:
Date: Saturday, October 18, 2025
Time: 10:00 AM–2:00 PM (Central Time)
Location: Willie B. Johnson Recreation Center 12225 Willowdell Drive, Dallas, Texas 75243
The program’s theme for 2025 is "Raising Awareness through Proactivity rather than Reactivity– refining practice." Content will build upon previous years, with an emphasis on understanding and improving approaches to preventing power-based violence and supporting justice for survivors and advocates.
Participants—including professionals and interested individuals—will have the opportunity to learn about current research, effective practices, and lived experiences related to trauma, grief, and healing. The program offers a variety of workshops, keynote presentations, and networking opportunities that cover relevant theories, practical techniques, and provide space for sharing expertise and experiences. Workshops will be presented by local experts who address different aspects of domestic violence and share applicable tools and strategies.
Conference tracks will include:
Law Enforcement: Best practices for responding to incidents, supporting victims, and fostering community trust.
Judicial Members: Information on legal frameworks, case management, and the judiciary’s role in victim protection and offender accountability.
Youth Violence Preventionists: Strategies for addressing youth violence, working with at-risk populations, and promoting healthy relationships.
Statistics indicate that more than 10 million people experience domestic violence annually in the United States, with one in four women and one in seven men affected.
